Save The Date - Cabrillo Under the Stars 2026

The unparalleled views of the sunset, skyline and San Diego Bay from Cabrillo National Monument provide the backdrop for the Foundation’s annual fundraiser where the community comes together to celebrate and support this national park treasure ensuring it remains for generations to enjoy.

Perched on the tip of Point Loma, guests will delight in samplings from local restaurants, vintners and brewers while enjoying lively music under the stars. Guests learn about ways they can help make an impact to continue park discovery, youth education, and volunteer support programs at Cabrillo National Monument.

Walk-and-Talk at Mt Helix Park

Join California Native Plant aficionado, Ed Piffard for a walk along the historic Mt. Helix Park's Yawkey Trail. This century-old nature park in La Mesa is a hidden gem and offers a peak at some great examples of native landscaping. Having won awards for his landscape designs, Ed has also advised the habitat restoration team at Mt. Helix Park for the past decade and offers special insights to gardening with California native plants. He has been helping people all over San Diego County rewild their yards to include key pollinator plants and include varieties that offer greenery all year around.

Moonlight Walk & Lighthouse Experience

CNMF Members are invited on an exclusive, guided moonlight walk along the Bayside Trail against the backdrop of the night sky, downtown, the bay, Coronado Island and the Pacific Ocean.  Witness the majestic Old Point Loma Lighthouse illuminated at night, enjoy a complimentary cup of hot cocoa and a stroll under the moonlit sky after hours in this exclusive member experience on Friday, April 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.   This is our most popular member event, so be sure to RSVP as spaces are limited.    Current CNMF membership and RSVP Confirmation email are required. Whale Watch Weekend and Intertidal Life Festival

CNMF is proud to sponsor Whale Watch Weekend and Intertidal Life Festival on January 11 from 9 am to 4 pm at Cabrillo National Monument.

Celebrating 75 years of land-based whale watching, the Cabrillo National Monument tradition began officially in 1955 when the park was declared a public venue for observing gray whales. Enjoy exhibitors and speakers from an array of backgrounds as they present on topics relevant to their work and the ongoing pursuit of healthy oceans and coasts as well as crafts and activities for all ages. Park staff and volunteers who will be stationed throughout the park to help visitors spot whales and explore the tidepools.

San Diego Archeological Center Members-Only Tour

CNMF Members are invited on an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the San Diego Archeological Center this October 26 from 11 am to 1 pm. Join the San Diego Archeological Board President and archaeologist Dr. G. Timothy Gross for a one-hour tour of their lab and museum, then enjoy time to explore the museum and exhibits. Guests are also invited to bring a packed lunch to enjoy in the center’s picnic area with views of the San Pasqual valley. There are a limited number of spaces for this event.

NATURALLY SPEAKING

Conservation and Environnmental Stewardship Apprenticeship Program is a volunteer program at Cabrillo National Monument that connects female-identifying and nonbinary youth ages 13-18 to science at the park. With the guidance of female mentors, the youth engage in scientific research and science communication projects. As one of these capstone projects, the youth apprentices will present on their summer experience at Cabrillo National Monument.
