Cabrillo National Monument Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team!

CNMF helps to preserve and protect Cabrillo National Monument’s cultural, historical, and natural resources. We do this by funding and supporting Park programs and activities, advocating for the Park in our local community, and marketing the Park globally to increase visitation.


Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Manage account receivables and payables
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts with daily sales report
  • Reconcile petty cash, bank and credit card statements
  • Process payroll bi-weekly
  • Pay monthly sales tax
  • Balance and close books for month, quarter, fiscal and calendar year end
  • Analyze, summarize, and report financials and trends
  • Assist with annual budget preparation
  • Provide CPA necessary documentation for annual audit
  • Process and reconcile online store and event ticket sales
  • Maintain files crucial to Foundation operations (financial records, human resources, insurance)
  • Coordinate financial reporting requirements for grants and National Park Service reports
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local accounting, and labor policies
  • Verify discrepancies and resolve issues
  • Provide administrative support as needed
  • Be an advocate for the National Park Service and Cabrillo National Monument


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting
  • QuickBooks experience required
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office and GSuite products
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from Cabrillo National Monument
