Cabrillo National Monument Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced part-time Bookkeeper to join our team!

The ideal candidate will be well organized and comfortable dealing with financial data. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll and conducting other tasks related to finance. They should be excellent at recording data and have an ability to product clear financial reports.

The bookkeeper will:

  • Track expenses, budget, cash flow, receipts, and other financial dealings
  • Provide accurate monthly financial reports for Executive Director and Board of Trustees
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts with daily sales report
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and retirement contributions (bi-weekly)
  • Maintain files crucial to Foundation operations (financial records, human resources, insurance)
  • Reconcile online orders, bank statements, credit card statements
  • Process NPS funding requests and reimbursements
  • Provide CPA documentation for annual audit and 1099s
  • Pay monthly sales tax
  • Assist with annual budget preparation
  • Coordinate financial reporting requirements for grants and National Park Service reports
  • Analyze and summarize financials and trends
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local accounting, and labor policies
  • Provide administrative support as needed
  • Be an advocate for the National Park Service and Cabrillo National Monument

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Grant or nonprofit experience preferred
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, and Google products required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from Cabrillo National Monument
